It’s finally 2021, and with a new year comes a new hope. And we’re hopeful that things are getting closer and closer to normal and we’ll be able to be back on the pickleball courts with our friends and start playing the game we love like we used to.
One of things that people wondered about during this pandemic was, “What’s going to happen to pickleball?” Well, there are many signs that pickleball and the future of the game are still strong. All over the country players are coming out in droves, governments are clueing into pickleball, pickleball was even often on the list of safe COVID activities, and new courts are being built.
For instance, even in the backyard of the pickleball capital of the world Naples,Florida, home of the Minto US Open Pickleball championships the nearby Marco Island Y just built 9 high quality permanent pickleball courts. They have cushioned surfaces, LED lighting for night play, and even touch free refrigerated water stations, giving Flordians and visitors to the area even more great places to play.
The East Naples Community Park, home of the Minto US Pickleball Open Pickleball Championships has added new courts to the already impressive offering. This brings their total number of courts to 64. Combine that with a new shade structure, better wifi, and Covid safe water filling stations, it looks like 2021 is the year we will see the biggest party in pickleball return.
